Philanthropy in West Virginia
West Virginia has a strong tradition of charitable giving.  Organized philanthropy has helped efforts to aid citizens most in need, protected the environment, nurtured the arts, improved health, strengthened the education system and contributed greatly to improving the quality of life throughout West Virginia.

The 2005 West Virginia Giving Study (coming in late summer 2007) was produced to highlight giving trends and provide a better understanding of foundation giving in West Virginia.

In addition to research conducted by the WV Grantmakers Association, a variety of data are available through the Foundation Center, Foundation Search, the National Center for Charitable Statistics, IRS Statistics of Income and Guidestar.
